1. Who we are

Smilo ("we", "us", "our") operates the website booksmilo.com. We are currently a pre-launch project. For any privacy-related questions, contact us at privacy@booksmilo.com.

2. What data we collect

When you join our waitlist, we collect:

  • Your email address
  • The source through which you found us (e.g. landing page, Instagram)
  • The date and time of your submission

We do not collect any other personal data at this stage. We do not use cookies for tracking or analytics.

3. Why we collect it

We collect your email address solely to:

  • Notify you when Smilo launches
  • Send you occasional updates about our progress
  • Offer you early-access benefits reserved for waitlist members

The legal basis for this processing is your explicit consent, given when you tick the consent checkbox and submit the waitlist form (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).

4. How we store your data

Your data is stored securely in our database, hosted on infrastructure within the European Economic Area (EEA). Access is restricted to members of the Smilo team only.

5. Third parties

We share your email address with the following third-party services solely for the purpose of sending you emails:

We do not sell, rent or share your data with any other third party.

6. How long we keep your data

We keep your email address until you unsubscribe or request deletion. If Smilo does not launch within 24 months of your sign-up, we will delete all waitlist data.

7. Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
  • Erasure — ask us to delete your data at any time
  • Withdraw consent — unsubscribe at any time by clicking the link in any email we send, or by emailing us directly
  • Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
  • Lodge a complaint — with your national data protection authority

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@booksmilo.com. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as we build. Material changes will be communicated via email if we hold your address. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
